Delta Sigma Pi provides many opportunities for students to experience growth in the business environment.  Every year, we plan a professional trip to different cities to meet and network with companies.  Recently, we have been to Chicago, Atlanta, and Charlotte.  We also participated in the etiquette dinner organized by Buck Rodgers.  The event had corporate sponsors from Deloitte, PNC, PWC, Cintas, Aldi, TQL, Fifth-Third, and Wolseley-Ferguson.  Many of these organizations have also visited Miami’s campus to speak with our organization, and share their knowledge of the commercial world.

Business Trips
On our most recent trip to Charlotte, NC, we visited the corporate headquarters of Bank of America and Wray Ward Marketing.  We also planned meetings with successful alumni in the area including:

  • Julie Murphy – experienced strategic brand and marketing professional
  • TJ Felice – experienced entrepreneur and COO of Decision Support
  • Meghan Hakes – Financial Analyst in the Corporate Treasury Department of Bank of America

Professional Speakers
Throughout the year, various professionals are brought in to speak with the chapter.  This semester we met with:

  • Fifth-Third regarding how to network effectively
  • Nicholas Clementi – An experienced CEO and General Manager with strengths in both turn around and high growth situations.  He is an effective CEO coach and an active board member.
  • Sharon Attaway – Director of Professional Development for the Farmer School of Business.  Sharon spoke about resumes and how to build a strong resume

Professional Resources, Workshops & Seminars
While our professional program does provide an excellent opportunity to network, its main focus centers around professional development for members of the fraternity.  This semester we have reached this goal by:

  • Meeting with every pledge regarding their resumes and giving advice for areas of improvement
  • Holding resume workshops
  • Leading networking seminars
  • Provided resources for interview preparation
